This Andean city, “2600 metres nearer to the stars”
has all of the advantages of a large Latin American city. In Bogota,
there is an extensive and rapid system of public transport –
the Transmilenio – the largest network of cycle paths in Latin
America, an impressive number of well-equipped libraries, most of
the best universities, many theatres, football stadiums, parks…
The typical “Bogotano” is open, friendly, educated
and gets on well with foreigners. I am writing from personal experience:
being a foreigner actually guarantees you favourable treatment!
The people of Bogota do their best to make visitors feel at home.
And they succeed in doing so!
