The quality of the academic programs offered by the many Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) located in Bogota, has made this city a centre of opportunities for the internationalization of its universities. In fact, this was confirmed by the results obtained from the Competitiveness Study undertaken by the firm Monitor in the year 1999. They classified the Higher Education sector as one of the strongest competitive opportunities this city boasts today.

Universities in Bogota have achieved excellent results. They have signed International Agreements and have entered into Student Exchange Programs. They also offer services abroad. Furthermore, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (BCC) has considered this program a priority. The BCC is supporting the Bogota IHEs, to ensure Bogota is positioned as a strategic education and training point for Latin America countries.
